Sebastian Davies
I live in Cape Town, under the shadow of Table Mountain—a place that shapes how I move, think, and spend my time.I’m drawn to the outdoors and to pushing myself physically. Over the years that’s taken many forms: paragliding, kitesurfing, trail running, adventure racing, long-distance cycling, longboarding, and a handful of expeditions that have tested both body and mind. I’ve always found something honest in being out there—where effort is simple and consequences are real.Recently, I joined Trail Search & Rescue here in Cape Town, part of the broader Wilderness Search & Rescue network. It’s a volunteer team made up of ordinary people who step in when things go wrong in the mountains and wild places around us. Being part of that has shifted something for me.This challenge feels personal because I’m not just raising funds for a cause—I’m raising funds for the very team I now stand alongside. The training, the gear, the readiness to respond… it all matters when someone needs help. And I’ve seen how real that need is.At the centre of everything I do, though, is my family. I’m a dad and a husband first. That’s the role that grounds me, and the reason I care about showing up well—in the mountains, in my community, and at home.
