I will be taking on the Cape Town Cableway Charity Challenge to raise funds for MCSA Mountain Rescue, part of Wilderness Search & Rescue (WSAR) in the Western Cape (also a friend made me do it!). The concept: hike up Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge… take the cable car down… and repeat until my legs (or dignity) give out.Mountain Rescue is a volunteer team made up largely of climbers and members of the Mountain Club of South Africa who head into the mountains when someone else’s adventure has gone sideways — often in bad weather, tricky terrain, and inconvenient hours.As someone who spends a lot of time in the mountains, this is a cause close to home. The funds raised help keep the team trained, equipped and ready to respond when the call comes.If you’re able to donate, you’ll be supporting an incredible volunteer rescue team — and helping ensure my suffering up Platteklip is at least for a good reason.
